AUSTRALIA'S national sail training ship Young Endeavour will arrive at Queens’s Wharf, Newcastle this weekend as part of her 25th Anniversary Voyage Program.

On Sunday, February 24,  young Australians including youth from Corlette, Fennell Bay and Toronto will join the ship for an 11-day voyage to Sydney. During their voyage they will learn to sail a tall ship, navigate, keep watch, cook in the galley, set and furl sails, take the helm, and climb to the top of the 30-metre mast.

They will also complete a youth development program designed to increase self-awareness, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and foster a sense of community spirit.

For the final leg of their voyage they will elect a captain and command team and take command of Young Endeavour.

Voyages on Young Endeavour are open to all Australians aged 16-23. For more information please visit www.youngendeavour.gov.au.
